Motor that filters toxic exhaust wins science fair competition
Palm Desert - Fifth-graders Ali Lanewala and Michael Thompson are concerned enough about the environment that they've taken it on full time.
After winning last year's St. Margaret Episcopal School's annual science fair with a project to clean up the Salton Sea, Lanewala and Thompson won this year's competition on Feb. 28 by building a motor designed to filter toxic schaust.

1984-11-07: El Dorado Gazette: Garden Valley Inventor Fights Uphill Battle

An engine that runs on anything -- water, crude oil, old tires, junk -- absolutely anything, has been the goal of mankind since the dawn of the industrial age.
Just such an invention has been created by Paul Pantone of Garden Valley. Impossible you may say. The course of the world could be changed if it was no longer dependent on dwindling energy sources.

However, there's doubt the devices to be made there perform as advertised.
The Carbon County Planning Commission recommended last week that 120 acres of land about five miles south of Price be re(garbled) from mining and grazing to (garbled) industrial purposes.
The land would house a factory to construct car retrofit devices that some experts look upon with great skepticism.

Marin inventor revved up about cleaner air
Paul Pantone has a lofty ambition -- he wants to save the planet. But the world may not be ready to be saved.
The Greenbrae resident claims to have invented the miracle engine -- cheap energy and no pollution. In fact, says Pantone, it produces energy while cleaning the air, something that has been, at least until now, akin to turning lead into gold.

With rising fuel prices affecting everyone, one Tennessee Technology Center student may have found and built a working model of an alternative.
James Prescott, of Scotts Hill, and his cousin, Billy Burton, modified the motor from a pressure washer to run on a mixture of fuel and water.
Prescott carried the motor to school with him at the Lexington Campus of the Tennessee Technology Center last week to demonstrate to fellow students and teachers that it did actually work.

The model of a "Tesla Coil" which will be featured in the historic exhibit of the radio show reawakens interest in its inventor.

It is not generally appreciated that this curious apparatus, often associated with pretty or spectacular demonstrations of high voltage electricity, is really a fundamental part of modern radio. For all the tuning apparatus and circuits in every transmitting and receiving set are simply variations of Tesla coils and Tesla coil circuits.

EVGray: Auto motor inventor just fueling around? July 7, 1975

Either saint or sinner
Los Angeles (AP) - Ev Gray, a self-educated inventor, says he has designed a car motor that needs no fuel. Hundreds of investors have put their money on it.
But local authorities have charged him with bilking his believers out of thousands of dollars. A specialist in energy engineering saw the prototype motor and said if it worked "it would violate all the laws of physics."

In the eyes of Gray's supporters, it is a case of a small-time inventor being harassed because he is on the trail of a revolutionary idea that challenges the auto establishment.

EVGray: Miracle No-Fuel Electric Engine Can Save U.S. Public $35 Billion a Year in Gasoline Bills, July 8, 1973

An inventor and his small but stubborn team of engineers have devised the most revolutionary technological advance in the history of mankind: A power source that uses no fuel.
As reported exclusively last week in TATTLER, the astonishing new system creates electricity without consuming the world's dwindling supply of fossil fuel, without creating pollution, and without using costly and unsightly transmission lines.
