Bowie in negotiations to play Nikola Tesla

Movie is based on book by Christopher Priest.

 

Rock idol David Bowie is in negotiations to play Nikola Tesla in Christopher Nolan's The Prestige. Other movies by director Christopher Nolan include Batman Begins, netting $205 million, and Insomnia, which netted $67 million.

The new Nolan movie being produced by Touchstone Pictures is a thriller set in the world of magic, featuring rival magicians in early 20th century London.

The Tesla character is based on the real-life Serbian-American inventor who discovered the rotating magnetic field. 

Cast members of Prestige include Hugh Jackman, Christian Bale and Michael Caine.

Based on Christopher Priest's 1996 novel, Bale and Jackman play rival magicians in turn-of-the-century London who battle each other for trade secrets. The rivalry is so intense that it turns them into murderers.

Bowie’s film credits include 1976's The Man who Fell to Earth. He last acted in a movie in the fantasy Mr. Rice's Secret in 2000. Bowie will also provide a voice for Leon director Luc Besson's forthcoming animated film Arthur and the Minimoys.

Having Nikola Tesla featured like this is a major development in terms of giving significant stage presence to one of the most brilliant – and neglected – scientists this planet has ever seen. It reflects a trend toward greater esteem for a man who should have dominated the science history books, rather than being relegated to footnotes as he has been. As the inventor of AC power, radio, wireless transmission, etc., he is indisputably one of the most important inventors of the technological age.

The mainstream media are jumping on this story because of Bowie's rock icon status.

Joe In approximately 1992 a new form of a generator was constructed in Australia. In preparation for this book, I spoke to both the designer and his fiancee, regarding my wish to give him the due credits, etc., for his 7 years of work and cooperation with all involved parties. Unfortunately due to the lunatic fringe and money grabbers that dealt with him, this poor, victimised individual has decided to relinquish any further involvement with the cell that bears his name. So in respect to his wishes, he will simply be referred to as Joe. I would simply like to say, dear Joe, that if it was not for rare individuals like you, we the vast brainwashed majority, would never find the true beauties of Mother Nature's gifts.

It is now probably to late to save Mother Earth from the years of pollution and desecration caused by the thoughtless money-grabbing multinationals. As a species, we are unique. Even a little simple bird keeps its nest clean, yet we the most intelligent of creation, destroy our only home! Yet, individuals like Joe show us that there is a better way, a simple pure way, Nature's way. Without the benefit(?) of years of dogmatic mind shrinking education, Joe found, by intuition, how to ask Nature a question in such a way that it answered. The answer was a method of powering machinery without the use of our primary resources or the creation of pollution. This method is well known to the select few and the technology has been around for centuries. Joe has made a crude easy to build version of this generator. The generator is called a Joe cell.

Harnessing artificial tornadoes as an energy source

WEATHER systems, as the world has recently been reminded, have awesome power. The energy released by a large hurricane can exceed the energy consumption of the human race for a whole year, and even an average tornado has a power similar to that of a large power station. If only mankind could harness that energy, rather than being at its mercy. Louis Michaud, a Canadian engineer who works at a large oil company, believes he has devised a way to do just that, by generating artificial whirlwinds that can be controlled and harnessed. He calls his invention the “atmospheric vortex engine”.

" A local man (Dallas) developed a closed system engine that was purported to generate 350 HP and run itself. The engine weighed about 200 pounds and ran on cooking oil at temperatures of 300 F.

It consisted of a cone mounted on a horizontal axis. The shaft which supported the cone was hollow and the cone had spiralling channels cut into it. These spiralling pathways wound around the cone terminating at the cone base in the form of nozzles (rimjets).

When fluid was pumped into the hollow shaft at pressures ranging from 300-500 PSI (pounds per square inch), it moved into the closed spiralling channels of the cone and exited from the nozzles. This action caused the cone to spin. As the velocity of the fluid increased, so did the rotational speed of the cone.
